Apple Barn Winery, along with Mountain Valley Winery and Hillside Winery, presents: "Stomp Out Breast Cancer" Breast cancer is the most common cancer among women in the United States after skin cancer. It is the second leading cause of cancer death in women after lung cancer. The American Cancer Society's most recent estimates for breast cancer in the United States for 2009: over 192,000 new cases of invasive breast cancer and over 40,000 deaths. Last year (2009), Mountain Valley Winery released a new wine named "Pink." (See photo above.) A donation of $5 from every bottle sold was donated to the American Cancer Society, and they were able to raise a total of $7,500. Pink sold out in 10 days! Needless to say, that inspired us to do more. So, Apple Barn Winery, Hillside Winery, and Mountain Valley Winery have teamed up to raise over $15,000 in 2010! Each winery will sell a wine, unique to their style but the color pink, to show our desire to get involved and show our support for research and honor those who have fought this disease. On October 2, 2010, we will kick off our fundraiser with loads of festivities. We will have a run/walk beginning at Hillside winery, then on to Apple Barn Winery for eats and apple bobbing, then on to Mountain Valley Winery for grape stompin', and then return to Hillside Winery for barbeque lunch, music and games for the whole family. |
